Champlain-based painter Zabel has left her village for New York, where she will showcase several of her paintings at the Art Expo New York, a major art fair held from April 21 to 24.
This annual event brings together over 1,000 visual artists, galleries, and publishers, who present their work to more than 25,000 visitors, including a large number of gallery owners, interior designers, collectors, artist agents, and other professionals interested in the world of art.
However, this is not Zabel’s first appearance at such an event, as she has participated in several international shows since December 2016. She has exhibited at art shows in Barcelona, Marseille, Palm Springs, and Indian Wells. The Mauritian artist is represented in the United States by MJ Laberge Gallery, while in Europe she is represented by Mondial Art Academia.
The artist, who has her studio on Notre-Dame Street in Champlain, conducts most of her artwork sales through the internet. In November, she organized "Virage," an exhibition where 40% of the proceeds from the sale of the paintings were donated to the neonatal unit of the CHU Sainte-Justine hospital in Montreal.
